The Field Equipment Specialist is responsible for ensuring the functioning of all of MEMS' equipment depots in accordance with company requirements.

This includes equipment issuance, receiving, ordering, maintenance, repairs, replacement, and storage. This position is accountable to operate in accordance with MEMS' fiscal budgeting of this business unit. This position is also responsible for contributing to the monthly management reports.


As a Field Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and sourcing equipment ad vehicles required to undertake a variety of projects.
  • Providing safety and field equipment to MEMS offices in Sherwood Park, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Saskatoon, and remote locations.
  • Ensuring the consistent maintenance and tracking an inventory of MEMS owned equipment in addition to the identification of potential future equipment needs.
  • Ensuring there are processes and procedures, so equipment required by field staff is available and in good working condition.
  • Responsible for lockout/tag out of any equipment or vehicles that are not in safe or suitable working order.
  • Arranging for field equipment maintenance, calibration, repair or replacement and ensuring that it is ready for use.
  • Arranging for the procurement of required supplies and equipment.
  • Undertaking inspections of equipment as per MEMS Policies and Procedures.
  • Undertaking and/or coordinating the maintenance of MEMS owned equipment as required.
  • Reporting & resolving equipment/quality defects or errors as required by MEMS Policies and Procedures and initiating process for repairs/replacement.
  • Completion of fleet management entries for processing.
  • Assist in creating of equipment use, care and limitation documentation.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
  • Providing support where needed and working longer hours or on weekends and
- other duties as assigned.


What you Bring:


  • Experience with the maintenance, inspection and sourcing of equipment required for various environmental assessment related activities is required.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a consultancy environment would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, working with database/software.
  • Completion of postsecondary education is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with general office related equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and perform in a logistics environment.
  • Awareness or training in WHMIS, TDG and OH&S.
  • Experience with securing, hauling, loading and operation of ATV's is considered an asset; and
- possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
