If so, we might be the right fit for you The Strategic Policy Unit is looking for an emerging policy professional to research and develop strategic policies, legislation, and initiatives for postsecondary learning and employment interventions to support the Ministry's goals and strengthen Ontario's labour market

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Undertake policy and issues analysis
  • Participate/lead assigned projects in support policy development initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of policy and program recommendations, consultations and implementation planning
  • Conduct environmental scans and trend analyses to identify key issues
  • Analyze data to identify trends and assess their implications for policy development
  • Collaborating across government to develop new and support existing initiatives
  • Prepare presentations and briefing materials for senior staff and senior levels of government

How do I qualify?:


Policy and Program Development Skills:


  • You have the ability to acquire knowledge and understanding of policy and program development principles and the government decisionmaking process
  • You are familiar with or eager to learn more about postsecondary education policies, current issues, emerging trends and upcoming opportunities
  • You can provide policy and program options and recommendations
  • You have experience conducting program analysis and evaluation to assess the effectiveness of initiatives

Research and Analytical Skills:


  • You have experience conducting environmental scans, trend analyses, quantitative and qualitative research from multijurisdictional sources and costing of policy and program changes

Communication Skills:


  • You have clear communication skills to draft policy documents and correspondences including policy papers, reports, briefing notes and materials for Cabinet submissions
  • You have engaging presentation skills to present findings to senior staff and leadership on policy and program initiatives
You have strong interpersonal skills to work with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve mutual objectives


Issues Management Skills:


  • You can identify potential issues and problems and develop solutions to mitigate
