Job Description:

We are currently hiring a Security Projects Specialist to join our Corporate Security Team. Our Corporate Security Team members play a critical role in providing a

safe and secure work environment.

They actively monitor, assess and evolve security processes and protocols in real time to ensure compliance with government regulations and work with our internal teams on existing day-to-day activities.

The Security Projects Specialist is responsible for a number of key deliverables including:

Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Crisis Management Program Coordinator

  • Coordinate and assist in writing the current BCP plan for GDMS-C;
  • Conduct Risk Assessments and Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to ensure GDMS-C is appropriately prepared for, and can respond to unexpected disruptions to normal activities;
  • Contribute to a team of BCPrisk management professionals who work with senior management in all lines of the business to coordinate BCP governance activities;
  • Continuity planning and event management, development and facilitation of enterprisewide event exercises, relationship management with external vendors, development of corporate policy, standards, and guidelines;
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining program processes and practices which effectively ensure that the enterprise program remains current, and incorporates/aligns with industry standards and practices as appropriate, and adequately covers general regulatory requirements;
  • Provide 24/7 event management oncall support on a rotational basis;
  • Assist Calgary and Halifax as required with their locations' BIAs and BCPs.
Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO)

  • Provide training for lab staff for security protocols/compliance & work with the project manager to develop & maintain training material;
  • Provide administrative support to Security personnel (filing, printing, creating files, assisting with terminations)
  • Assist with, or lead, internal security projects such as classified documents records system, internal investigations, and updating security management systems asrequired;
  • Review incident reports, analyzing the impact and producing clear summaries for decision makers, handling initial investigations on security and safety breaches, liaising with departments to address security exposures;
  • Implement security procedures and policies, taking into consideration highrisk areas of exposure and ensuring proper security is maintained;
  • Provide support to security team to include resetting security panels and troubleshooting issues;
  • Oncall support for both COMSEC and Corporate Security functions, on a rotational basis.
Alternate COMSEC Custodian

  • Provide backup support to Ottawa and other GDMS-C offices on COMSEC matters (appointments, training, documentation, etc.);
  • Backup support to COMSEC custodian to process incoming and outbound COMSEC shipments, including dismantling of Controlled Cryptographic Item (CCI) items & disposing of nonCCI items;
  • Support the Production Program Manager to maintain & comply to CNRE program Security protocols. Maintain Security compliance & requirements for the CNRE Program & PLA (Production Lab Area);
  • Assist production personnel with the handling & transport of COMSEC items, as well as package COMSEC and/or classified items for transmittal, as per federal regulations.

Additional areas:

  • Oversee the Commissionaire guard services contract and direct daytoday operations through the Site Sergeant
  • Review training requirements and forecast additional staffing requirements for guard staff
  • Update and maintain Post Orders with Corps of Commissionaires Site Sergeant
  • Surveillance Camera planning, installation (assist technicians), programming and upkeep
  • Provide ongoing support with investigations by way of photo retrieval for incidents and clear information dissemination;
  • Overseeing the daily operations of the access control system, which include Network Digital Video, other surveillance systems, communication devices, data base programming and other related
- equipment, problem analysis & resolution, equipment maintenance & repair

  • Lenel lead for coordination of security management system upgrades, updates and maintenance through contracted service provider/VAR
  • Badge administration, report generation, troubleshooting, and configuration for security hardware.
  • Physical Destructions:maintain company policy on destruction of sensitive materials and necessary records regarding destruction
  • Lead for coordination of destruction through authorized external contractors and/or internal equipment, as necessary
  • Ensure the company policy and Federal Regulations on destruction of various types of controlled media are followed by GDMS-C

administer and lead the coordination of system upgrades updates and maintenance via outside contract service
