- Directly supporting university researchers through consultations, both in person and through emails and a ticketing system.
- Assessing the IT needs of those doing research work at the university, including gathering, documenting, and validating requirements for specific projects or services.
- Advising researchers who are preparing grant applications with respect to IT considerations for their proposals ( equipment, processing and storing data, and existing local and national resources).
- Proposing, designing, and launching IT services for University researchers.
- Managing and operating IT services for University researchers.
- Providing support and expertise on scientific software packages provided as part of Research computing services.
- Actively participating in the Research Computing team, including discussions, decisions and tasks related to the overall configuration, operation, and support of IT for research and scholarship.
- Establishing effective working relationships between ICT and other units and research-focused groups within the University.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues, including cultural, socio-economic, and other factors affecting Indigenous Peoples and an awareness that Indigenous engagement is a strategic priority at the University.

Senior Research Analyst

Primary Purpose :
The University of Saskatchewan and Digital Research Alliance of Canada partner to provide advanced research computing (ARC) support, including high performance computing, high performance storage, and data management support to researchers at the University, using local and national ARC infrastructure and services. The Senior Research Analyst provides leadership in support of the use of specialized computational hardware, software, and tools in service of their research. This position requires expertise in the use of research technologies, a client-focused approach to service, and an understanding of the research process and the IT environment of the university.
Nature of Work :
Reporting to Advanced Research Computing Coordinator of the Research Computing department in ICT, this position involves collaboration with colleagues around campus and across the country, including researchers, and Digital Research Alliance of Canada. This position is part of a collaborative Advanced Research Computing team, enabling research success through IT at the university. The Senior Research Analyst works closely with researchers, facilitating their needs in ARC resources and services. Additionally, this position provides leadership to other Research Analysts within ICT in their support of Research Computing services at the university. Regular participation in local and Digital Research Alliance of Canada meetings and working groups is expected, as well as occasional travel, both within Canada and internationally. Occasional weekend and evening work is required. Frequent use of video-conferencing and remote collaboration technologies is required.

A graduate degree in Computer Science or related field is strongly preferred. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Five years of employment experience, supporting Advanced Research Computing and/or High Performance, large-scale storage in an academic environment is desired. Experience working within an ARC consortium ( Digital Research Alliance of Canada, XSEDE etc) would be a significant asset. Research experience is a significant asset.
