The Children's Program Coordinator is responsible for collaborating and managing with a team to provide a safe and caring environment for children and youth.

In addition, they support the development and implementation of children programs; facilitate various activities that promote physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, positive personal development and wellness.

Children's Program Coordinator are motivated, enthusiastic team players with knowledge of child development and positive behaviour management practices, who have the ability and capacity to lead a team of peers successfully.


  • Duties and Responsibilities:_
  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of Summer Camp for children and youth
  • Promote the core values of BGC Canada and achieve its operating standards
  • Develops and directs variety of dynamic and accessible programs.
  • Directs and supervises program staff in the performance of their duties, and visits all sites on a regular basis.
  • Completes administrative duties, including, but not limited to, creating and updating staff resources and program manuals, development of work schedule, collecting and compiling of information for statistical purposes, requisition and purchase of supplies, equipment/supply control, movement of equipment/supplies, maintenance of supplies, etc., and ensures a regular inventory is completed.
  • Assists Program Supervisors with the selection of camp staff, and conducts interviews and make recommendations for hire, as required.
  • Develops, coordinates and assists in delivering training for staff and volunteers, as required.
  • Develops and implements a promotional strategy for all BGC Weston Mount Dennis & Lawrence Heights Club programming.
  • Maintains a detailed record of purchases and expenditures, conducts budget control activities, maintains a detailed record of expenditures and revenues.
  • Develops, updates and implements safety procedures and ensure standards are met in all phases of program operation.
  • Liaises with appropriate agencies and organizations in the community as well as BGC St. Albans Club Management staff.
  • Acts as a resource person for program staff and volunteers when necessary.
  • Reports to, collaborates with, and meets with the Community Director on a frequent basis.
  • Prepare and drop off program supplies including, but not limited to program supplies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:_
  • Postsecondary education and work experience in Human Services, Education, Community Development, Social Services or related field with an emphasis in working with children and youth (e.g. ECE, Recreation & Leisure, CYW, SSW, etc.)
  • Must meet all "Canada Summer Jobs" requirements including:
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and

  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
  • International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
  • Minimum 2 years' program planning and facilitation experience with children and youth in a community setting
  • Must have current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (mandatory)
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector reference check (mandatory once hired)
  • Experience working with children and youth in summer camp, recreation program, child care or similar setting.
  • High Five Training Certificate (asset)
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class "G" Ontario Driver's License, or equivalent
  • Must have access to a vehicle.
