Chemical Analysis Specialist

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


  • Collecting and interpreting quality test data by following existing SOPs and standard methods.
  • Following QC criteria and developing/establishing them for newly added analyzers.
  • Characterizing slurry, laminate, powder, extractives, and raw materials using a growing number of analytical instruments.
  • Generating detailed laboratory reports summarizing trackable results, method development efforts, and critical communications.
  • Be accountable for communication with external labs for outsourcing the required tests.
  • Playing role in gathering knowledge and developing innovative characterization techniques for sorbent screening/qualification.
  • Participating in method development & optimization and experimental uncertainty analysis
  • Supporting other research, product development, prototyping and manufacturing, teams as required
  • Preparing documents such as technical reports, SOPs, and presentations.
  • Carrying out other related tasks and projects as required within chemistry context.
  • Maintaining instruments and equipment on a regular basis.

Key Qualifications:


  • MSc. or college degree in chemistry or a related field.
  • 35 years of working experience in labs preferably as an analytical chemist in the labs with QMS in place and ISO 17025 certification.
  • Handson experience with wet chemistry and sample preparation
  • Understanding and experience in chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques are assets.
  • Demonstrate experience and knowledge in some of the characterization techniques such as (TGA, DSC, DVS, XRD, SEM, EDS, IC, MS, FTIR, Sorption units, Solid/Liquid NMR, etc.).
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques for chemical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in QC criteria monitoring in analytical chemistry set.
  • Demonstrate analytical, critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be adaptable to a fastpaced environment.
  • Be safety oriented and be able to measure risks before actions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to liaise with internal teams within Svante R&D team to exchange routine information on specific tests and samples.
  • Ability to organize workload to meet established timelines and priorities and to follow laboratory testing and sampling protocols.
