This position will take place both virtually and on-campus.

Position Summary

Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive, respectful teaching and learning environment based on the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity, including the critical examination of classroom materials and instructional practice for discriminatory bias or barriers to learning and engagement
  • Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes using a variety of techniques, providing constructive and meaningful feedback
  • Teach either in person or online as required by the College
  • Work effectively in a teambased environment, using effective interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, and management
  • Provide reasonable academic support to students through timely electronic communication
  • Post marks and course materials in a timely manner on the electronic course shell
  • Maintain records of student grades and assessments
  • Participate in meetings and training activities as needed;
  • Meaningfully contribute to scholarship and/or applied research at the College

Qualifications/Experience

  • Master's degree required in a relevant field i.e. fine arts, design, visual communications
  • 5 years of progressive experience teaching students at the postsecondary level
  • 7 years professional and relevant industry experience, i.e. fine arts, design, visual communications
  • Robust knowledge of the visual communications
  • Robust understanding of emerging technologies and other trends currently affecting the cultural industry
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty in an academic setting
  • Demonstrated ability to advance the principles of social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom; working with students of various social, cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Demonstrated capacity to advance departmental goals of decolonization and Indigenization
  • Demonstrated ability to develop course or learning materials
  • Demonstrated record of scholarship of teaching and learning and/or applied research in a relevant field using Boyer's Model (important within institution contributing to development of knowledge, sharing teaching practice, presenting to peers/presentations, dessiminate knowledge
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
