Senior Manager, Community Development and Women's Programs
HOURLY RATE:
$29.95
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Women's Program Worker reports to the Senior Manager, Community Development and Women's Programs, and is responsible for delivering and facilitating stimulating social, educational, recreational and life skill programming for women.
This contract is to deliver services primarily to Bengali speaking women. This position is part ofCUPE LOCAL 7797.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Implement outreach strategies and promote programs.
- Plan and implement supportive social, educational, recreational and life skills programs, including special events.
- Organize and facilitate women's groups.
- Provide support and informal counselling to individual and group program participants.
- Provide information, referral and advocacy to participants.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 to 4 years postsecondary education in Social Services (Social Work, Women's Studies) or related field.
- 3 to 4 years' experience working directly to support lowincome women of diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge and experience to support and advocate on behalf of women and their families in the areas of immigration, housing, social assistance, child welfare, trauma, and equity.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to compile client evaluations, statistics, and reports within deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in effective group facilitation.
- Demonstrated experience delivering innovative women's programming including outreach, workshop development, assessment, implementation and evaluation.
- Understanding and sensitivity to women's issues i.e. ethnicity, language, age, violence, sexual identity and special needs.
- Ability to deliver services, interpret and translate in Bengali to English.
- Must be able to work in a diverse and multicultural environment.
