The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for the in-depth monitoring and day-to-day managements of operational risk in our credit portfolio, data compliance, and process management.
This role is focused on detail, data, and relationships with a keen eye on high quality activities, managing consistent standards, effective risk management, and robust data integrity.
This role plays an integral part inCWB's compliance activities.
Areas of focus
Compliance & Risk Management
- Contribute to the progress of continuous improvement of all Credit Operations processes specific to lending administration and maintenance.
- Accountability as the team member for the execution of work procedures, policies, and methods to ensure compliance with Canadian Western Bank's legal, regulatory business policies and procedures.
- Ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets and quality benchmarks for Credit Operations are being met through reporting.
- Establish a collaborative and clientcentric relationship with the Credit Operations department ad Banking Centre network while balancing the efficiencies and governance of a standardized structure.
- Actively works to ensure standardized processes are followed and data integrity is consistently achieved, monitored, and maintained.
- Participates in projects that primarily impact functional area or specific department, adhering to standard project governance practices.
- Due diligence as it relates to Credit Operations activities, procedures, and documentation for compliance with regulatory bodies.
- Responsible for delivering "best in class" customer experience to our Banking Centre network and partners.
- Provides direct loan support to Banking Centre employees, as required. Corresponding with Banking Centres, both verbally and in writing, regarding loan processing and Banking Centre inquiries.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills that contribute to working effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Accept responsibility and accountability for actions and results and make decisions guided by common sense and sound business judgement.
Education
- Post secondary education in business or a related field supplemented by courses in commercial lending, commercial compliance, documentation, or equivalent working experience.
- Minimum 1 year of lending, credit, or banking experience.
- Solid knowledge of risk assessment, business banking and credit processes including financial and cash flow analysis.
- Knowledge of credit administration, collateral securities, and credit processes including complex loan facilities.
- Strong knowledge of the Banking System, Loan Origination Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Forms.
- Understanding of process improvement and continuous process design to achieve optimization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Customer focused with strong working knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, regulations, documentation, compliance issues, collateral securities, and audit requirements.
- Strong technology aptitude with an ability to learn new processes and train others.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and escalate efficiency concerns or continuous improvement ideas to management.
- Respectful, proactive, and selfmotivated team player.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in and drive multiple initiatives simultaneously.
