Food Security Officer (MisFit Market):

Qualifications:

Be selfdirected and have the ability to work independently
Possess excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others
Have experience researching and developing reports, proposals, or project plans
Have good communication skills, be able to maintain relationships with community

partners, and the ability to engage students in discussion on food issues

Be organized and have the ability to manage their time effectively between multiple tasks
Possess knowledge on food security and environmental justice
Prior work on, and knowledge of, food systems at Dalhousie is an asset

Responsibilities:

Sitting on the MisFit Market committee and attending weekly meetings.
Working with the Loaded Ladle, other organizations, and volunteers to move forward the

implementation of the MisFit Market and ensuring its continuation

Taking on various tasks contributing to the implementation of the Misfit Market in areas

including vendor relations, proposal writing, budget management, as well as market

planning and organization

Collaborating closely with coworkers as well as other organizations and campus groups

to create and support a variety of sustainability-related programming

Conducting community outreach and promoting campus food initiatives, mainly the

MisFit Market

Strengthening DSUSO relationships with existing groups and collectives on and off

Campus.

This is a paid part-time position for 6 hours per week. The position starts in May 2024 and the
end date is April 30th, 2025.
