Overview
In this position, you will be responsible for project investigation, reporting, specification preparation, quality observation, and liaising with clients, contractors, and manufacturers.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform field reviews, testing, data collection, design, report, and specification writing.
- Use a variety of technical methods to solve problems.
- Perform field investigation work including diagnosis, remediation, and condition assessments.
- Complete design assignments of limited scope and complexity.
- Assist with carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed testing analysis, design, or computation methods.
- Perform quality observation for all services within assigned discipline.
- Measuring of building dimensions and quantifying on site and from drawings.
- AutoCAD support and specification writing.
- Ongoing project coordination and project administration of multiple projects at a time.
- Assist with investigation field work and construction reviews.
- Provide technical assistance to field technicians and technologists.
- Coordinate all input for time billing and job costing.
- Other assigned duties and tasks, as required.
Required Experience, Education and Certifications
- Completion of a degree or diploma in engineering or engineering technology with a focus on Architectural, Building Science, Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Possession of one or more designation in a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 2+ years of project coordination experience in a relevant capacity or related industry.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; technical writing skills are required.
- Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data collection and notation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Selfmotivating and able to multitask.
- Ability to act with business integrity and professionalism.
Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements
Physical Demands - Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk on sloped and flat roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to client sites or job sites. Working at heights, including accessing buildings by ladders, swing stages, and mechanical lifts may be necessary depending on assigned discipline. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports.
Overtime - There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position.
Travel - This position requires up to 60% local area travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
