Who We Are:

Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) is a highly entrepreneurial foundation, created by the federal government. Our mission is to be a catalyst and convenor for the climate tech ecosystem in Canada.

We do this by investing in projects that are pre-commercial and have the potential to demonstrate significant and quantifiable environmental and economic benefits in one or more of the following areas: climate change, clean air, clean water and clean soil.

We are a small team of high energy, dedicated, private sector-oriented individuals who are hands-on and innovative. Come and help us make a difference to the Canadian innovation and sustainability agenda.

  • Help build and maintain a data governance program.
  • Help design and build refinements to new data architecture.

  • Work with the business to collect ideas and proposals for additional data features and reports across the organization.
  • Provide adhoc support to the Business Transformation team for various projects, and initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in daily scrums, prototype demos and participate in team meetings.
  • Identifying, assessing and recommending actions, tools and activities to drive faster adoption, achieve expected business results and increase utilization and proficiency of stakeholders and employees.
  • Facilitating connections across stakeholder groups and business areas to ensure effective integration, collaboration and identification of impacts to support readiness planning.
  • Monitoring and reporting on report adoption and data literacy improvements, identifying issues and facilitating solutions in conjunction with business partners.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a data science or database management program.
  • Work experience with data management or data science is considered an asset.
  • Specific training or experience with SQL, Power BI, Dynamics 365 and/or Python strongly preferred.
  • Work with leveraging, designing or building any enterprise data architecture model would be an asset.
  • Work experience with software development projects is considered an asset.

Related Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, compare, analyze and synthesize data using multiple tools.
  • Capacity to think through how to communicate effectively using data visualizations in order to help design useful dashboards for the business.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and with others to complete projects.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a very fluid, rapidly changing environment.
  • Proactive, positive workplace attitude and willingness to create an impact in each given task.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • SDTC is committed to protecting the health and safety of its employees and the communities where they live and work across Canada. In accordance with the direction provided by the Government of Canada, as a foundation receiving funding from the Federal government, all SDTC employees must be fully vaccinated.
