    Job Title: Diesel Engine Mechanic at VIA Rail Canada Inc.


    VIA Rail Canada Inc., a leading passenger transportation company in Canada, is currently looking for Diesel Engine Mechanics to join the team at its Montreal Maintenance Center in Pointe St-Charles.

Diesel engine mechanics are integral to our maintenance team, working tirelessly to maintain the reliability of our locomotives round the clock.


    In this role, your responsibilities will include:

    • INSPECTION: Conducting thorough inspections and diagnosing defects based on VIA Rail's standards
    • TROUBLESHOOTING: Identifying mechanical issues, demonstrating problem-solving skills and time management
    • REPAIRS: Performing various repairs on locomotive engines
    • PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE: Implementing preventative maintenance procedures


    Advantages:

    • Competitive hourly rate: $35.22
    • Evening shift premium: $1.5/h and Night shift premium: $2/h
    • Full-time position with guaranteed hours (40 hours per week)

    Requirements:

    • PREREQUISITES:
      • DVS in heavy vehicle mechanics or related field
      • Minimum of two years of diesel mechanics experience (preferred)

    • OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
      • Flexible availability for varied schedules
      • Physical fitness for the role (medical exam required)
      • Proficiency in working in diverse weather conditions
      • French language comprehension for training purposes
      • Journeyperson certification (preferred)
