One temporary full-time position for up to 8 months, intended specifically for students currently enrolled in a business or technology co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience degree program, commencing in May 2024_**Be part of the team that is working to modernize the future of Waste Services learning and development by using your creativity and innovative-thinking to create and build new learning programs, courses, apps, and games.

Reporting to the Waste Services Operational Training Supervisor, the student will provide automation support in developing and maintaining critical resource systems for a comprehensive centralized internal training program.

The student will be providing meaningful and impactful work towards developing code for automations within a complex resource infrastructure, and succession planning through developing manuals for these processes.

The student will also be providing general support for the training needs of the Branch.


As a part of the team, you will:

  • Enter training data into spreadsheets and the current LMS system
  • Review and consolidate digital and paper documents into master templates/documents for use across the Branch
  • Consolidate and migrate training data and materials from the current Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Use Google Workspace and other tools to develop code (JavaScript, Formulas in Google Sheet, and Python) and automate training processes and reporting, streamline training and learning systems
  • Create programs, forms, and documents for data analytics, data visualization, as well as automation/ scripting
  • Design, test, and create apps/ games for training and learning processes
  • Manage the flow of incoming and outgoing learning communications and inquiries through automation
  • Develop and maintain manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the automation processes
  • Provide digital support for blended (online) training sessions
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:


  • Current enrollment fulltime in a postsecondary institution, in a business or technology coop or postsecondary work experience degree program
  • Strong proficiency with JavaScript and Python coding languages

Conditions of Employment:


  • This position will be a combination of working from the office and onsite working conditions.
  • Must arrange own transportation; There is limited public transportation to the site.
