    Reporting to the Chair of the School of Public Safety and Behavioural Science, the Professor is responsible for developing, preparing, and delivering post-secondary courses including applied labs related to technologies and techniques in crime and intelligence analysis.


    Seneca offers courses in four delivery formats:
    in-person, online, hybrid, and flexible.

    The Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership in the classroom and within the School, ensuring an effective and compelling learning environment for students.

    Responsible for teaching courses and applied labs at the Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate, and Degree levels, in the Crime and Intelligence Analysis, Police Foundations Diploma program, and other Public Safety programs.

    Professor will also be assigned to teach courses in other academic areas.
    Under the direction of the senior academic officer of Seneca or designate, the Professor is responsible for:

    Leading labs in the Crime and Intelligence Analysis degree related to the use of Geographical Information Systems, Excel, and other software systems related to the degree program.

    Ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approaches, and evaluation techniques.
    Incorporating active learning strategies in online, hybrid, flexible, and in-person classes.
    Implementing appropriate educational technology and tools in online, hybrid, flexible, and in-person classes.
    Carrying out regularly scheduled instruction, which may include tutoring and academic counselling of students.
    Providing a learning environment that makes effective use of available resources, work experience, and field trips.
    Ensuring an equitable and accessible learning community on online, hybrid, flexible, and in-person classes.
    Designing formative and summative assessments (alternative and authentic) for online, hybrid, flexible, and in-person classes.
    Defining course objectives, and evaluating and validating these objectives.


    Academic Leadership:
    Participating in industry, or community-partnered, Applied Research initiatives to enhance student learning with inter-disciplinary and experiential learning opportunities.
    D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Public Policy, National Security & Intelligence, Leadership Studies, or related field. If education is in another field of study, please state how it is related to the programs within the School of Public Safety and Behavioural Science

    Relevant professional certifications such as Criminal Intelligence Certified Analyst (CICA) from IALEIA and/or a Certified Law Enforcement Analyst (CLEA) designation from IACA are preferred.

    Minimum two (2) years of post-secondary or adult-level education teaching or training experience is required.

    Minimum two (2) years relevant industry experience in Crime and Intelligence Analysis, Law Enforcement, Cyber-Investigations, Public Safety, or other directly related fields.

    Minimum two (2) years of relevant industry experience in using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for public safety.
    Demonstrated competencies to deliver online and hybrid teaching.

    A track record of teaching excellence at the College or University level, and/or delivery of professional training and development.

    Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Indigenization, diversity, inclusion, integrity, and excellence.

    Consideration will be given to qualified internal full-time academic and partial-load employees first in accordance with the Collective Agreement requirements.

    The salary range for full-time Professors ranges from $67,221 to $116,532.
