Job Description:


The Entry to School (ETS) service will aim to support families with children ages 3 to 5 who are entering school for the first time.

Children enrolled in ETS will receive six-months of group programming focusing on building skills prior to their entry to school followed by six-months of transition supports and individualized consultation.

As an ETS service provider, Kinark will deliver ETS as part of the York Simcoe Autism Network (YSAN).


Kinark has recently introduced a new benefit that gives employees the opportunity to work their role in a hybrid or fully remote arrangement, as assessed for their position, for those who wish to opt-in for this benefit.


The role of Autism Consultant has been positionally assessed in the 'Roamer Worker' classification, defined as two (3) days minimum in person unless business demands require more.



Job Summary:


The ASD Consultant will be responsible for providing individualized consultation, and group-based programming under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).

In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team to support students entering school for the first time. The successful incumbent will be assigned to work within York or Simcoe region. This role may include supporting Kinark's Fee-for-service and / or Foundational Family Services.


This is a temporary position with a contract length of 1 year.

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Provide expert Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) clinical and consultative support to school teams and families
  • Development effective evidencebased practices for students with ASD in the educational environment
  • Deliver school readiness curriculum in groupbased settings
  • Conduct individualized parent and mediator coaching
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to meet program outcomes
  • Develop resource materials and facilitate training opportunities for educators and caregivers
  • Complete behavioural assessments
  • Participate in treatment planning, program and report writing
  • Support the delivery of OAP services

Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Psychology or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)**:
  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certification is considered an asset
  • Minimum three years experience in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis and ASD**:
  • Experience with school-based transitions and the delivery of consultation-based services will be considered a strong asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, good problemsolving skills, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical
  • Some evening / weekend work may be required
