    Labourer - Roads and Drainage


    Duration:
    Regular Full Time
    Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

    The goal of the City of Burnaby and its employees is to consistently deliver first class service and services to our community.

    This is manual work of some variety entailing physical effort and agility in the performance of semi-skilled and unskilled construction and maintenance tasks.

    An incumbent of this class performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and construction of roads, pavements, and in street cleaning: acts as lead hand on road projects such as installing culverts, regrading, raking premix on extensive repair jobs, repairing sidewalks and boulevards; breaking blacktop and concrete surfaces using pneumatic hammer and compressor accessories.

    Qualifications include up to high school graduation and experience in general construction and maintenance work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Knowledge of the methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in general construction and maintenance work.

    An incumbent will have skill in the use of a variety of tools and have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.

    A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
