    JOB INFORMATION


    We are currently seeking a Revenue Equipment Mechanic. This position is based on a 40 hour work week involving Afternoon Shifts with Monday/Tuesday off days.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES



    • The work will take place in the Revenue and Security Equipment Maintenance (RSEM) Shop and/or on location at any TTC facility

    • Performing varied and moderately complex mechanical and electrical fabrication and repair work on small to medium stationary machines, locking devices, ticket registers, farebox pedestals, vaults and receivers, fare processing equipment, clock mechanisms and related controls and devices for revenue and security equipment

    • The work involves precise fabrication, fitting, assembly, disassembly, overhaul, repair, modification, inspection and cleaning of machines, devices, parts and controls

    • Locksmithing work involves the repair, installation and adjustment of lock mechanisms including electronic keypads and locking mechanisms

    • Use a variety of materials; the operation of a variety of metal working machines, welding equipment and electrical apparatus; and the diagnosis, adjustment, redesign and testing of mechanisms and controls

    • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.     • Candidate will be required to participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE



    • Training normally obtained through the completion of grade 12, technical program, or its equivalent as defined by the Training & Development Department's guidelines for the assessment of grade 12 technical program

    • Must have successfully completed courses approved by the TTC in machine shop practices; MIG/TIG, gas and electric welding techniques

    • Courses in locksmithing from the Academy of Locksmithing (or other recognized training program) including; basic locksmithing 1, basic locksmithing 2, master keying, aluminium door servicing, safe servicing, hardware installation; and electrical theory

    • Must have practical experience and knowledge in the repair of locks, vaults, fareboxes and in the fabrication and fitting of related electrical and mechanical components that would normally be acquired through 2 years of previous experience in the repair of such devices

    • Valid Class "G" or better Ontario Driver's Licence

    • Must pass tests set by the Operations Branch which correspond in content to the knowledge, theory, and/or practical requirements described above

    • The successful candidate will be required to attend and successfully complete the Training & Development Department's programs for the operation of a Commission vehicle, Subway/SRT Rule Book certification and WHMIS certification

    • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
