Opportunity

Are you passionate about sustainable deal-flow and ensuring environment, social and governance (ESG) factors are considered in the investment process? Are you excited about the concept of stewardship and exercising voice on our client's behalf through proxy voting and engagements, and in conducting ESG analytics? As the Co-op Student, Responsible Investment (RI), you will support the RI team by actively integrating ESG into the investment processes, navigating the transition to the low carbon economy, and advancing our stewardship & advocacy initiatives.

No two days are the same on the RI team, and you will be delivering on a variety of tasks including proxy voting, investment due diligence, ESG portfolio analytics, company engagements, data management and ensuring AIMCo's business practices follow Responsible Investment protocols and relevant governance mandates.


Responsibilities

  • Participate in stewardship activities, including voting proxy ballots and engaging with investee companies.
  • Conduct ESG portfolio analysis, including and contributing to the development of relevant ESG tools in order to conduct portfolio analysis
  • Conduct research to identify, assess and mitigate ESG risks/value
  • Prepare reports to capture responsible investment activity
  • Contribute to ESG due diligence for potential investments
  • In pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in business, economics, or related discipline
  • Must be returning to full time academic studies in 2024, or completing their final work experience terms
  • Demonstrated interest in Sustainability
  • Superior written, interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Initiative, drive, and the ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • SQL, Python or R would be an asset
  • Ability to recognize and define problems and opportunities and generate creative solutions
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others
