Job Summary:

Hours of Work
Up to 35 hours per week, a variety of shifts including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.


Your role

  • Oversee the "BehindtheWheel Training as outlined in the Training Action Plan for all newly hired bus operators, maintenance workers and inspectors.
  • Conduct behind the wheel training as required.
  • Conduct safety meetings.
  • Facilitate written tests for licence renewals.
  • Conduct driver evaluations of perspective employees.
  • Perform driver check ride checks and trail checks.
  • Ensure that all training meets legislated regulations are Certified Professional Instructors through IHSA Fleet Driver Trainer Course or equivalent.
  • Participate in Emergency Management Preparedness activities.
  • Ensure that all Accidents/Incidents are immediately reported to Operations, Risk Management and the Guelph Police service on request, providing written documentation with two (2) business days after the date of the accident.
  • Become a certified Instructor through the CUTA Transit Ambassador in Customer Service program.
  • Work with Human Resources on operator recruitment to ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Maintain and update training records.
  • Willing to work shift work and occasional weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have PRIDE Certification
  • Must have air brake instructor course
  • Must have ability to become signing authority with the MTO
  • Train the trainer courses or adult education courses considered an asset.
  • Intermediate skill in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and producing quality detailed work according to deadlines and within timelines.
  • Ability to read and assist with reports, statistical data, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage time and comply with deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge and experience working with transit scheduling software
  • Knowledge of Trapeze software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Heath & Safety Act

Rate
$40.16-$50.20/hour
