Machine Builder/assembler - Vaughan, Canada - Samuel, Son & Co., Limited
Description
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, product specifications, and understand tolerances to determine assembly operations.- Has a strong mechanical background and aptitude.
- Has experience with, or knowledge of, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical.
- Rig, hoist, move and align large (up to 5 tons) subassemblies and components to storage areas or within the worksite using overhead cranes and forklifts using established safety precautions.
- Fit and assemble simple and complex parts to build heavy industrial machinery and equipment according to drawings and product specifications.
- Install major components such as gears, pumps, motors, fans, tracks, strapping heads, hydraulic systems, electrical components, various mechanical assemblies using hand and power tools.
- Thread and install mechanical components and assemblies using engineering assembly drawings.
- Inspect, test, examine and investigate parts, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure quality and detect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Perform installation and repair on machines for various mechanical and electrical components.
- Provide feedback on design improvements through communication with the supervisor and assist in preparing 'Engineering Change Requests'.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed following the Occupational Health and Safety Act and participate in regular safety talks. Perform a visual inspection of equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and other tools, to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Communicate and work effectively with team members and other members of the company.
- Ability to walk, sit and stand for prolonged periods.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Is able to use, or learn how to use, precision instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and tape measure to achieve precise tolerances.
- Track, troubleshoot and report assembly issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in custom machine building, automation, packaging, etc. equipment is a must.
- Technical School Diploma, Trade Certificate, or Equivalent Certificate of Qualifications and experience considered an asset.
- 5+ years' experience as a Machine Builder or Millwright.
- Ability to lift/push and pull up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Work experience in related industry is an asset but even if you do not have this, we still want you to apply.
