    Electrical Engineer - London, ON, Canada - Vanderwesten & Rutherford Associates Inc.

    Description


    Working within multi-discipline project teams, the ideal candidate will be an energetic team-player with experience designing electrical systems for for institutional, healthcare, municipal, commercial, and industrial facilities.

    Your responsibilities will include all aspects of design and analyses, including electrical system selection, assist with engineering analysis, evaluations, designs, and implementation of electrical systems.

    Ability to work at either our London or Ottawa office.

    Education and LicensingLicensed professional engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer in TrainingPost-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering QualificationsKnowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, applicable CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES, and NFPA Codes and Standards.

    Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models (ex.

    AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).5 years of experience working with engineering in simple to complex electrical buildings including utilization of design programs (AutoCAD, REVIT)Familiarity with construction practices and procurement processes.

    The ability to work independently on complex institutional, industrial, municipal, healthcare and commercial engineering projectsThe ability to carry out routine construction assignments, site surveys and field workThe ability to liaise with clients, contractors and local authoritiesExcellent communication skills (both verbal and written)Desire to work in person, in a collaborative team environment ResponsibilitiesPrepare/review all project electrical engineering calculations and select all equipment.

    Prepare and review project specifications and lead a design team to prepare drawings/schematics institutional, healthcare, municipal, commercial and industrial facilitiesDocument and communicate project scope to design team membersCoordinate electrical requirements with Senior Mechanical Engineer/Designer and external consultantsProject management, including liaising with clients, building owners, and contractors.

    Prepare fee and cost estimates, as requested, and tender documents according to office standardsEnsure plans and specifications conform to applicable codes, good engineering practices and project scopeCommunicate all requirements clearly to internal and external teams.

    Work cohesively with a team overseeing projects during construction and respond to technical inquiries.
    Assigning tasks to technical/administrative support team members.
    Internal/external coordination, including managing and maintaining document quality.
    Full understanding of construction project procurement methods and apply that understanding to projects.
