Position Summary:


Lead the design, development, and delivery of TSSA's data analytics including the predictive risk model used to prioritize resources in an Outcome Based Regulator (OBR) framework.


What you will do?

  • Develop, deliver, and maintain analytics programs and models that assess and predict risk across TSSA regulated sectors
  • Design models that track and analyse TSSA outcomes with respect to public safety and harm reduction
  • Provide clear and actionable insights that can support evidence based, data driven decision making ie provide quarterly data reviews, design and deliver safety metrics dashboards and reporting, conduct exploratory data analysis for emerging questions, conduct trend analysis to identify patterns and areas of concern
  • Explore and implement leading analytics approaches/new tools that will strengthen TSSA's ability to make datadriven decisions using data analytics ie. Machine learning, AI, correlation analysis, predictive models, automation, natural language processing, external data sources, etc.
  • Support exploratory analysis, creation, and maintenance of operational metrics to enhance efficiency and productivity of TSSA operations
  • Work closely with data quality and data management/reporting functions to ensure data streams and quality are in place to deliver on organization's analytical needs
  • Ability to tell the story with the data and support decision making process
  • Provide information and respond to audit and data requests as required
  • Manage internal resources to ensure optimization of resource allocation to ongoing, day to day activities as well as project leadership and support
  • Support the Director and Manager in the development of a strategic analytics roadmap to support TSSA's transformation to an outcomebased regulator
  • Lead the project to publish TSSA's annual Public Safety Report in accordance with the guidelines and standards set out by the TSSA
  • Supervise a team of analysts and data advisors including recruitment, engagement, performance management, professional development and other talent management activities

What will you need to succeed?

  • Graduate level degree in science, applied mathematics, engineering or similar
  • 5+ years' experience delivering and managing complex analytical models
  • Predictive modelling experience
  • Statistical analysis experience
  • Proficient in data exploration and data analysis/profiling
  • Experience in analytical tools ie. Statistical analysis, inference, prediction
  • Advanced knowledge of R, Python, Power BI, SQL
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc)
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated capabilities to present, facilitate and influence
  • Strong project management skills
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and Dynamics365 CRM as asset
  • Experience working in a people leadership capacity team lead, supervisor, project manager, etc
