Logistics Coordinator - Brampton, Canada - Legacy SCS
Description
Job Purpose:
To arrange, coordinate and monitor transportation of freight from origin to destination on behalf of LEGACY's customers, and to provide an excellent service experience.
Job Summary
As Logistics Coordinator, you play a fundamental role in helping our customers move their goods in the most cost-effective way and achieving our ambitious revenue growth objectives.
This is an entry level position and with the right attitude, performance, and training, there is potential for this role to advance to a Carrier Development Coordinator role and/or Account Manager position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Scheduling and booking shipments to meet agreed transit times
- Dispatching carriers
- Tracking and tracing shipments, providing timely updates to customers
- Resolving shipment problems in a timely and constructive manner to minimize delays
- Monitoring and following up on additional costs occurred during transit to minimize order costs
- Communicating with customers in an excellent customer service manner and building rapport as a responsive and creative problem solver
- Communicating with carriers in an excellent professional manner and developing relationships as a fair business partner
- Maintaining accurate database entries (notes, shipment details, shippers, carriers, etc.)
- Maintaining accurate and timely billing entries
- Maintaining shared files and SOP's
- Contributing to a healthy working atmosphere where teamwork, communication, and a strong focus on LEGACY culture and values are expected
- Other duties, as required, may be assigned
Qualifications
- Interest in working in transportation industry
- Transportationrelated College or University education preferred
- Experience in transportation industry preferred
- Experience in intermodal/road transport, and/or brokerage environment preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Great customer service skills
- Enthusiasm and high energy
- Strong work ethic & coachable
- Insatiable curiosity, always willing to learn and grow with the company into progressive roles and responsibilities
