We currently have an opening for an experienced and dedicated industry professional to join the leadership team as Fleet and Facilities Manager for our Sea to Sky transit region based in Whistler.


  • Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Transportation Administration or Fleet/Facilities/Asset Management (or working towards). A combination of related training and experience may be considered.
  • Technical (Mechanical and/or Electrical areas) background/understanding is a must.
  • Several years of progressively responsible experience in transportation operations and /or fleet or assets management
  • Labor and employee relations experience
  • Experience managing budgets and overseeing shop/vehicle maintenance
  • Previous fleet and or facilities / infrastructure management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, Transportation/Logistics Principles, Management and Human Resources
  • Experience in a unionized environment
  • Experience with job task planning and organizing
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software). Experience with AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locator) system is considered an asset
  • High level of accuracy and close attention to detail
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills, as well as great negotiation, organization, time management and planning abilities
  • Exceptional analytic problem solving and decisionmaking skills
  • Enhanced computer skills

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist in planning, developing, managing, and evaluating the operations and budget
  • Direct the workforce to achieve maximum operational effectiveness & transit system efficiencies
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to Technicians / maintenance staff
  • Direct the activities of staff in relation to conventional and paratransit operations including tracking vehicle maintenance
  • Ensure awareness of PWTransit policy and procedures and monitor compliance
  • Plan, develop, and implement health and safety, and security programs and activities
  • Monitor operations to ensure that staff complies with policies & procedures, safety rules and government regulations
  • Negotiate and authorize contracts within authority limits, direct procurement activities related to transit operational needs
  • Direct and manage governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to transit activities
  • Forecast, document and report Key Performance Indicators to measure the effectiveness of the transit operations and develop strategies to correct problem areas
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with employees and all stakeholders
  • Remain current with latest transportation technology systems and procedures
  • Negotiate with vendor representatives for services and preferential rates
  • Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of transit operations

Salary:
$80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
