    Senior Manager, Risk, Compliance, and Information Management

    About the opportunity

    Reporting to the Director, Risk Management & Operational Support, the Senior Manager of Risk, Compliance, and Information Management provides subject matter expert advice to internal stakeholders in the organization concerning the enterprise risk, compliance, accessibility, library operations and copyright-related work and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the designated area.

    The role effectively promotes a culture of compliance and control that is fit-to-scale for our organization, as an integral part of effectively managing operational, legal, regulatory, and reputational risk and be a trusted advisor to CPA Canada Leadership.

    This hybrid role can be aligned to any of CPA Canada's offices; Toronto, Ottawa, Burnaby. The targeted base salary range for this position is $120k to $140k and is commensurate with experience.

    What you'll do

    Risk Management

  • Oversee CPA Canada's execution and maturation of an enterprise risk management framework, including the methodology, processes, and tools to facilitate the identification, measurement, management, mitigation, monitoring and integrated reporting of enterprise risks (threats and opportunities) covering all areas of organizational risk (e.g., strategic, operational, cybersecurity, business continuity, data, privacy, accessibility, copyright, regulatory, contractual, third-party, financial, human capital, etc).
  • Guide/assist business owners in the identification and classification of issues related to compliance and risk management that are fit-to-scale for our organization; recommend solutions and action plans.
  • Lead and manage ongoing assessment and articulation of CPA Canada's risk appetite, thresholds and tolerance as well as regular risk reporting.
  • Liaise with the Transformation team to ensure alignment of transformation risks through the development of a new operating model for CPA Canada.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain enterprise policies associated with risk management, compliance and accessibility that are fit-to-scale for an organization of our size.
  • Provide strategic input and support for the planning and implementation of ongoing operational programs in support of the risk frameworks.
  • Administer and maintain enterprise risk management program activities in adherence to all policies, procedures, and established processes.
  • Analyze new and proposed legislation to determine the impact on the organization to risk, compliance and accessibility related initiatives.
  • Build risk and compliance awareness and establish a risk-informed culture by providing support and training across the organization.
  • Compliance

  • Guide internal client and assist with the creation of policies and procedures for Compliance management activities and programs, including providing support for the development and maintenance of process templates.
  • Perform periodic compliance reviews and testing of various departments to ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place and meet compliance requirements.
  • Help identify and characterize potential risks and assess vulnerability to support the development of risk management and privacy through ongoing identification and monitoring of crucial risks for CPA Canada.
  • Identify and report non-compliance instances to management and work with staff to correct the issue(s).
  • Monitor and implement quality assurance standards and procedures and evaluate their adequacy.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement business processes that maintain or improve organizational accessibility compliance while meeting functional requirements and maintaining business continuity.
  • Information management Oversight

  • Oversee and support the centre-led Accessibility function with their development and implementation of a fit-for-purpose Multi-Year Accessibility Program that is aligned with legislative and organizational mandates and goals in order to ensure compliance as an organization.
  • Manage and oversee library operations and provide ongoing management of physical and digital preservation of current and historical CPA Canada's library assets, including the CPA Canada Handbook.
  • Manage and oversee copyright access requests and permissions, documentation, and monetarization, if appropriate.
  • What we're looking for

    The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • 4+ years of risk and compliance leadership experience in a demanding and dynamic environment, including experience in establishing strategy and implementation of risk and compliance programs in a hybrid cloud model
  • At least three years of experience managing teams with responsibilities including strategic planning, and managing project portfolios
  • Demonstrated understanding of how business strategy, risk, regulation, and technical constraints influence organizational responses to various risks, including cybersecurity
  • Demonstrated expert-level understanding and application of enterprise risk management standards and frameworks
  • Functional knowledge of cloud and information security risks and risk management practices
  • Functional knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements such as AODA, PIPEDA and GDPR
  • A sound understanding of how to model threats and risks and the controls necessary to mitigate them, on both an organizational and technical level
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Skills and ability to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience leading and implementing change, including action planning to support the maturation of existing programs and implementation of improvements
  • Be performance and goal-driven with continuous improvement orientation
  • Excellent decision-making abilities using innovative and outcome-oriented leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal stakeholders and effectively facilitate meetings and workshops
  • Ability to work and exercise discretion and judgement in a multidisciplinary setting both independently and within a team setting, with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to effectively communicate review findings and conclusions through clear and concise reports and other correspondence and by delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders, including senior management
