Senior Manager and/or General Manager

Supervises:
Responsible for Supervisors, Team Leads, Material Handlers, Customer Service Agents and Warehouse Associates.


JOB SUMMARY:

Core Purpose and Essence of the Position: Have strong knowledge of the operational and planning requirements of all existing accounts.

Be proficient in all levels of packing and equipment use; assume responsibility of planning and prioritising all daily and long-term operations and warehouse usage.

Have working knowledge of personal computer-based receiving systems. Have overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices, and instructions from customers. Assess priorities based on time sensitivity and available resources. Assign duties to appropriate warehouse staff.

Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space, and needed changes in levels of supplies, equipment, or staffing needs.

Train new staff in assigned duties, or delegate training responsibility to experienced Specialist. Assess progress of trainees, and add additional duties as appropriate.
Keep informed of quantity and quality of jobs being performed throughout the day, providing guidance and advice as necessary.
Assign supervisory duties to experienced Specialists acting as leads for lower level warehouse staff. Keep abreast of progress or problems.
Keep Manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis. Hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess group's overall status. Discuss ideas for improvement. Keep staff informed of new developments.
Provide ideas and suggestions for more efficient operations. Promote a positive relationship with clients by providing excellent customer service. Insure their needs are met when working through a third party.
Assist in the physical operations as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned. PRIMARY INTERACTIONS:
The primary exchange will be working with upper management, Supervisors, Team Leads, Material Handlers, Customer Service Agents and Clients.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS,


ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
The ability to deal effectively in a supervisory capacity, using tact, diplomacy and negotiation skills.

Strong understanding of WMS Systems (EXE)Effective verbal communication skills and past customer service experience is required, since work requires extensive phone contact with carriers and other parties concerning the distribution process.

The ability to read and interpret data in order to maintain simple records.
The ability to follow simple to moderately complex verbal and/or written instructions, and analyze the business consequences of actions.
Requires completion of Managerial Course or equivalent.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or


EXPERIENCE:
College degree or MBAMinimum of five years on-the-job training in the logistics industryPrevious Supply Chain or Logistics industry experience strongly preferred


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.
