    Job Overview

    Assisting the Executive Chef in food preparation and cooking, overseeing the activities of cooks and other food-service team members, and taking charge of the kitchen and food-service team in the Executive Chef's absence.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and cook food following approved recipes and production standards, ensuring timely completion of production orders.
    • Supervise hourly food service associates, handling various tasks including interviewing, scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Adhere to all corporate and provincial food safety and sanitation procedures for storing food in designated areas.
    • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures.
    • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, utensils, and workstations, following sanitation, safety, and merchandising requirements.
    • Address customer complaints in a friendly and efficient manner, communicating relevant information to superiors.
    • Have a clear understanding of daily menu items, explaining them accurately to team members and customers.
    • Manage peak production and service hours effectively.
    • Keep track of inventory and product deliveries, monitoring production, consumption, and waste levels.

    Requirements:

    • Four years of relevant culinary supervisory experience in a fast-paced production-oriented environment.
    • FoodSafe Level 1 Certification.
    • Post-secondary education in culinary or related fields.
    • Strong background in banquet and catering operations with a focus on high-volume production.
    • In-depth knowledge of food and catering trends emphasizing quality, production, sanitation, cost controls, and presentation.
    • Basic supervisory skills to motivate, lead, and develop team members effectively.
    • Hardworking team player with strong prioritization abilities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word and Excel).
