    Located in downtown Hamilton, Hamilton General Hospital is a hub of cutting-edge medical care, housing several regional referral programs. From neuroscience to trauma care, our programs are dedicated to providing top-tier services in both volume and complexity. Our stroke program, burn treatment program, and cardiac and vascular program are among the best in the province.

    8 South Acute Medicine unit at the Hamilton General Site caters to adult patients needing acute medical care and step-down support. Our interdisciplinary team collaborates to deliver top-notch care for a range of medical conditions, from acute diagnoses like myocardial infarction to chronic conditions such as heart failure and COPD.

    Position Summary

    As a Registered Practical Nurse at HHS, you'll work alongside Registered Nurses to deliver high-quality nursing care with a focus on ongoing education and certification maintenance. You'll actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care standards on the unit.

    Schedule Work Hours

    • Rotating shifts: days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

    This position is temporary until February 2026.

    Qualifications

    • Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse from the College of Nurses of Ontario
    • Proficiency in various nursing skills and technologies including asepsis, wound care, airway management, and more
    • Experience with IV administration, venipuncture, and Basic Cardiac Life Support
    • Recent nursing experience in acute medicine and with geriatrics
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing environments
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
    • Knowledge of safe patient handling and community resources for discharge planning

    Candidates must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for employment.
