About the Facilities department:

Position purpose:


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Campus Design and Sustainability, acts as an expert in Capital Renewal Project Planning and Asset Management while working closely with the Asset Management team and other planners.

Support the director in the analysis of possibilities and the preparation of feasibility studies in order to be able to meet the infrastructure needs of the campus.

Directly contribute, coordinate and monitor projects advancement related to Capital Infrastructure renewal and Asset Management functions at both a project and program level to ensure stewardship in managing the University capital assets.


In this role, your responsibilities will include:

Project Planning:

Carry out condition assessment activities and participate in the consultation of internal stakeholders to identify the short, medium and long-term Capital renewal requirements.

Manage the 5 year Capital Renewal Plan and 10 Year Asset Management Plan and then see to its approval through risk based prioritization and recommendations for Senior Management approval.


Evaluate the physical condition of the facilities (condition, health and safety, compliance with codes, environmental, operational performance) and propose alternative solutions which meet the University standards, and which follow long-term plans and predefined priorities.


Ensure optimal project development by developing and overseeing various infrastructure studies, business cases, risk analysis, total cost of ownership calculations, and preliminary cost estimates.

Ensures that objectives and requirements are established by reviewing project priorities that align with the University strategic plan, developing project work plans and schedules, and assisting in the development of the Capital Improvement Plan (PAPI).


Project Support:

Proactively liaise with Project Managers assigned to Capital Renewal projects, and ensure project scope is well defined, budgets are in place, and schedules well defined for all project deliverables.

Support the project from a planning function through all gates of the project from conception to closeout.


Participate in the development, verification, maintenance, and data integrity of the various systems within Facilities including Workplace Management, Project Management, Asset Management, CMMS, and other tools used for performance and asset tracking.


Stakeholder Relationship:

Proactively liaise with and report progress to key stakeholders for assigned projects and ensure that their opinions or requirements are taken into consideration.

Establish and maintain positive and effective working relations with all members of the Construction team and Operations team to ensure the efficiency of interactions between the teams.


What you will bring:

University degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science or Project Management;
Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience;
Sound knowledge of construction methods, building systems and terminology for all types of Building systems (Architectural, Structural, Fire & Life Safety, Mechanical, Electrical);
Experience in supporting Capital Asset Man
