Eligibility:

  • Actively studying Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related program
  • Completion of an early childhood education assistant certificate program OR postsecondary courses in early childhood education may be required and OR experience in child care is require.
  • Experience working with children
  • Students are highly encouraged to apply

Responsibilities:


  • Supporting lead teachers Actively engaging in educational activities
  • Documenting all activities using appropriate systems
  • Comforting children and ensuring their inclusion and wellbeing
  • Managing children's personal belongings and maintaining order and cleanliness in the classroom
  • Maintaining high standards of sanitation (including body and furniture)
  • Organizing the classroom (toys, supplies, etc.)
  • Maintaining a behavior log and reporting all issues to the appropriate supervisor
  • Assisting children during meal and snack time
  • Studying of Childcare or a related program at a Canadian university or college
  • Passionate about children and working in a classroom environment
  • Reliable and committed
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and able to communicate with children, coworkers, and parents
  • Proficient in using appropriate software systems for documentation, reporting, and classroom operations
  • Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring potential problems to the attention of parents or guardians

Valid up to 6 months, up-to-date vulnerable sector checks (or willingness to obtain):


  • First Aid / CPR certification:

Experience working within a childcare center:


  • All Immunization records
  • 2 steps TB Test1, MMR, Tetanus, Hep B, Varicella, DPT, Flu Shot
  • annually.
