    Job Duties Job Duties Reporting to the Manager – IT Security & Enterprise Applications, the Application Developer – Enterprise Applications is responsible for the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is the specification, design, development and testing of a software application.

    ALM covers the entire lifecycle from the idea conception, through to the development, testing, deployment, support and ultimately retirement of systems.

    Application Developers have responsibility to maintain knowledge of the Microsoft O roadmap and of changes to the platform in addition to maintaining proficiency in PowerShell, Windows Server and Azure Active Directory.

    This position has an accountability to maintain a high level of knowledge and technical currency in Microsoft cloud technology.

    Application Developers also contribute to architectural designs, disaster recovery planning and has advanced knowledge of Microsoft licensing, administration of messaging services infrastructure, and data migration, contributes to security planning and enforces policy adherence through proper configuration and system access monitoring.

    This also provides client support, and is an escalation point for issue resolution in IT Operations.

    Application Developers have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work closely with solution architects, members of the infrastructure services team, security group, project managers and seniorleadership.

    As a technical lead for project initiatives, the Application Developer – Enterprise Applications translates business requirements into technical solutions supporting Saskatchewan Polytechnic's goals.


    Main Job Duties include:
    Management of Enterprise Application Lifecycle

    • Configure, monitor and maintain enterprise applications.
    • Design, implement, configure, upgrade monitor and support enterprise software solutions
    • Configure, monitor and maintain Microsoft messaging and communication environment.
    • Configure, monitor and maintain spam protection and message hygiene.
    • Manage the creation, modification, deletion, archiving and restoration of mailboxes.
    • Employ PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks, extract data for custom reports, customize policies, and connectExchange Online to existing infrastructure and processes.
    • Understand, configure and maintain message retention and hold policies.
    • Configure, monitor and maintain Microsoft content and collaboration environment.
    • Manage and configure service applications such as Search, User Profile Service, and Managed Metadata Service.
    • Manage policies for apps, connectors, and bots.
    • Monitor sites for storage and usage exceeding boundaries, thresholds and supported limits.
    • Manage the creation, deletion and restoration of site collections.
    • Manage team and collaboration sites.
    • Contribute to the security and recommend best practice for sites and sub-sites.
    • Employ PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks, extract data for custom reports, customize policies, and connect SharePoint to existing infrastructure and processes.
    • Define, Install and activate SharePoint and Team features or addons.
    • Manage user accounts and synchronization through integration with authentication systems.
    • Ensure accurate and timely resolution for assigned issues, document root cause, incident resolutions and develop knowledge articles.
    Office Administration Support

    • Serve as an O subject matter expert and tenant administrator for the enterprise.
    • Administration of Messaging Services infrastructure, Office licensing.
    • Produce electronically stored information for discovery pertaining to legal/policy investigations.
    • Provide client support, and resolution escalation point.
    Major Responsibility Main Tasks

    • Contribute to architectural design, definition and testing of O applications for deployment to the enterprise.
    • Maintain a highly secure system through proper configuration, account management, and system access monitoring.
    • Office monitoring service health, and management of service requests.
    • Ensure accurate and timely resolution for assigned issues, document root cause, incident resolutions and develop knowledge articles.
    • Champion the business value and adoption of Office services.
    • Contribute to defining security, compliance and governance requirements in accordance with enterprise needs and policies.
    • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as scheduled.
    Knowledge and Expertise

    • Research, document and present the risks/opportunities of leveraging cloud services for new and existing enterprise software
    • Design, implement, configure, upgrade monitor and support enterprise software solutions
    • Keep informed of Microsoft products roadmaps and business and industry trends.
    • Continuously improve and automate administrative and operational tasks by leveraging automation, scripting (PowerShell), and 3rd party tools.
    • Effectively utilize ITS helpdesk and project management applications to accurately describe tasks and record time/effort.
    • Understand, and adhere to, the standards, procedures, and policies of application development team, the ITS division and Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Make recommendations for changes and improvements to procedures and policiesProject Support
    • Participate as a technical expert within project lifecycles for concurrent IT and external projects comprised of multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Collaborate with the project manager to identify work activities and the hours of effort to produce deliverables.
    • Provide project status task updates.
    • Execute assigned project tasks ensuring completeness, scope adherence, and compliance with overall project goals and objectives.
    • Escalate issues and forward decision items to the Project Manager. These would include approval of delays, additional hours of efforts, expenditures, scope changes, resource issues and technical and operational risks. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Specific Accountabilities Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA) 1. Two year diploma in information technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Foreign education must have Canadian equivalency certification.
    • Five years of progressive experience within an enterprise information technology environment.
    Demonstrated advanced knowledge in two or more IT areas – including, but not limited to:


    • Application Development
    • Integration Services
    • Enterprise Application Administration
    • Database Administration
    • ERP Administration
    • Cloud Infrastructure and Services
    • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the Software Design and Development Lifecycle and Application Development technologies and methodologies.
    • Technical proficiency and adaptability. Demonstrated advanced ability code a variety of programming languages in different models and integrated development environments.
    • Effective analytical, problem solving and decision making skills to conduct detailed analysis and investigations to determine the course of action. High attention to detail and ability to recognize, comprehend, analyze and solve complex issues at an expert level.
    • Creative thinking with abstract thought, and ability to translate business needs and requirements into technically innovative solutions.
    • Effective organizational and time management skills. The ability to work in extremely stressful, time critical conditions and make accountable decisions.
    • Effective communication and facilitation skills. Ability to present, interpret, summarize and document information for varying audiences.
    • Ability to work independently on multiple initiatives and manage priorities and deadlines.
