Position Description


The Project Controller is responsible for supporting and advancing TWC's projects by working closely with project managers to ensure that all budgeting, scheduling, and coordination processes run smoothly.

They will monitor the progress of a project to ensure that it is working within the confines of set deadlines and budget limitations and generate financial progress reports to managers.

Reporting to the PMO Manager, the Project Controller will work closely with the Project Management Office and our Finance team, and will have full knowledge of all financial movements and scheduling capacity within the project scope, ensuring they are accurately reported, and that budgetary and deadline goals are met.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers in the development and implementation of project budgets and schedules.
  • Monitor project financial performance and determine improvement areas in line with the key performance indicators.
  • Review project scope change and change order requests for proper justification, schedule impacts, and adequate budget and funding.
  • Meet regularly with project managers to discuss deliverables' progress and update estimatetocomplete.
  • Maintain an integrated costschedule project control system with project managers and financial team members.
  • Oversee current and forecasted project costs throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Provide timely and accurate cost and schedule report updates for project managers on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Provide project billing and revenue forecast and reporting on a monthly basis.
  • Analyze project profitability and cost variances and recommend remedial actions.
  • Develop corrective action plans to mitigate identified project risks.
  • Provide input to client reporting as per contract requirements.
  • Support project managers as a finance and scheduling partner.
  • Recommend and execute corrective actions to handle project compliance to internal and client performance indicators.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project controls in a service based (consulting) company.
  • Expert user of project module in Deltek VantagePoint would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of project management systems.
  • Proven knowledge of cost control, planning, scheduling, and budget reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently with little instruction.
  • Extensive experience working with Microsoft Office and MS Project.
  • Ability to develop new and innovative solutions to current processes is an asset.
  • Indigenous lived experience is an asset.

This position is based in our head office in downtown Victoria, BC, just a few minutes slow walk from the Inner Harbour and some of the best coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping in Victoria.
