Marketing and Business Development (MBD) Specialist in our
Montréal office.
Reporting to the Manager, Client and Business Development, you will join a growing and dynamic group working with practice groups and team members to develop and advance a broad range of business development objectives through a variety of marketing activities.
The MBD Specialist will demonstrate a client-focused approach with excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to achieve short-term results while supporting longer-term strategies.
What You'll Do
Events, Sponsorships, Advertising and Awards
- Lead in the creation and execution of client events liaising with lead lawyers, managing all aspects of event campaigns, data integrity and contact management through marketing automation and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
- Track expenses, monitoring budgets and reporting on event leads and outcomes.
- Collaborate with MBD Event Management team members to support best practice protocols
- Identify and assess client event, advertising and strategic sponsorship opportunities
- Support the development of promotional content for distribution and external publication, including digital and social media, trade magazines, sponsorships/awards, recruitment, and community involvement projects
- Support the coordination and participation in award nomination and submission processes
- Support Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)/ General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance related to data collection and management
Regional Support
- Identify opportunities to expand the profile of McMillan in the Montréal and Ottawa markets through speaking engagements, media, social media, etc.
- Collaborate with other bilingual members of the MBD team on the transcreation and review of French marketing content
- Provide local market support for practice and industry focused business plans, activities and related budget management
National and Practice Groups Support
- Provide support for practice group business plans, activities and related budget management and reporting
- Support client team program deliverables
- Provide support for the strategic plan's core areas and industry focus
- Utilize CRM to advance and support business development and relationship building efforts along with digital media to boost brand awareness and thought leadership efforts
- Provide French language support in the delivery of applicable bulletins and website updates
Administration
- Coordinate the assessment and approval process for marketing and business development (BD) initiatives
- Assist with processing the Department's account payables and cheque requisitions
- Maintain necessary filing and document management systems
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring
You have established yourself as a key resource in your successful marketing career. Your history includes a bachelor's degree or diploma in communications, marketing, sales or related field. This is coupled with a minimum of _four years_ of marketing related experience. You are proficient in both official languages (French and English). You have strong project management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
You are detail-oriented and are able to effectively meet deadlines, work well in a team setting, and provide an exceptional level of client service.
You have excellent writing skills, outstanding verbal communication and presentation skills. You have proven successes liaising with external vendors such as creative agencies, printers, mailing houses and production companies. You embrace evolving technology and have superior skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You also have a basic knowledge of web CMS systems. You are also available to work outside the regular business hours of 9 am - 5pm. Overtime is required._Previous experience in a professional services environment (legal, accounting, engineering) and/or knowledge of commercial real estate and transportation would be considered an asset.
