    Title of Course

    VISA 1P95 Digital Foundation

    Technical foundations of digital images, media methods and concepts including web-based, digital photography, image processing software; foundations of digital media in video, audio and computational production and post-production. Contemporary digital practices within the broader history of visual and media arts. Lectures, lab, 5 hours per week.

    Schedule: Section 3 Winter Term Friday

    Delivery Method: face-to-face

    Compensation

    Effective September 1, $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
    Effective September 1, $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)
    Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

    Duties

    Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).

    Qualifications

    1. MFA or equivalent is required.

    2. Previous teaching experience of at least 2 years at the university level is required.

    3. Familiarity with all diverse instructional approaches to teaching basic technical and design conceptual foundations in the production of still and moving images, websites, web-based media, production including image processing, interactive web design and multimedia production.

    4. Ability to cite contemporary digital practices within the history of cultural production, tracing developments in technology and media arts.

    5. A record of professional activity and exhibitions in the area of digital foundation demonstrative of standing in the art community is required.

    6. Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level; and in the area to be taught are required by providing copies of recent teaching course/performance evaluations.
