Operations Manager
The Medicine Hat Operations Manager role is a hands-on position that requires a strong knowledge of transportation and geographic areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to key departments: Operations, Safety, and Training
- Maintain awareness of current industry trends and changes
- Assist in the development of operational budgets and forecasts
- Review monthly financials and report on variances
- Investigate and initiate change to improve operations systems and procedures
- Recruit, manage, supervise and direct personnel
- Supervise and delegate responsibilities of personnel, ensuring all routes are covered in the most equitable and efficient manner
- Assist with driver performance issues by supervising and supporting the training officer(s)
- Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure adequate numbers and sizes of units are available to cover all routes
- Setup and input data for driver payroll
- Prepare monthly billing
- Attend safety meetings
- Handle public and driver inquiries, negative or complimentary, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
- Establish and maintain relationships with current and future clients
- Adhere to company Core Values, and achieve its Strategic Goals
Requirements:
- 3+ years operations and management experience with strength in decision making
- Experience with profit/loss analysis
- Budget creation and management experience
- Familiarity with the people transportation industry
- Ability to manage multiple contracts
- Expertise in organizational planning and problem solving
- Knowledge of provincial and federal laws & regulations pertaining to industry requirements
- Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health & Safety regulations
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial statements
- Exceptional organizational, analytic problem solving, and diplomacy skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally while exhibiting confidentiality and tact
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
