How will you contribute?


As the Executive Advisor, you will provide strategic advice and expert recommendations to the Director, Corporate Security Directorate (CSD) and to the Deputy Director, LTVP Security Project Planning on a wide range of issues and major files.


Your expertise will be critical in providing leadership and oversight over the day-to-day management of CSD operations, including planning, business matters and operational and logístical aspects.

You will act on behalf of the Director's Office to communicate, coordinate, and manage operations in a way that ensures alignment of the divisions with the Directorate's strategic initiatives.


You will also play a pivotal role in the continued momentum towards improvement of security services to the Senate and ensure collaboration with other Parliamentary Precinct security partners.


Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Provide strategic advisory services regarding emerging issues, priorities, and implementation of best practices.
  • Lead CSD's annual internal reviews to identify gaps and propose recommendations related to security services.
  • Identify emerging trends and propose improvements to methods, policies, practices, performance measures and systems in the workplace.
  • Offer advice and guidance based on research, analysis and surveys to strengthen strategic planning and provide relevant information to CSD management.
  • Consult and build partnership with all levels of internal and external stakeholders to influence decision and obtain agreements on important matters.
  • Create a culture that promotes initiative, innovation and modern management practices.

The general public to staff one (1) permanent position in the Corporate Security Directorate.
This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of a postsecondary degree in business administration, management sciences, public safety, political sciences or having an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Solid experience in executive support and financial/administrative operations with a knowledge of governance models;
  • Experience in dealing with multiple priorities and projects and working under tight deadlines with changing priorities within a fastpaced and unique organizational context;
  • Experience in investigating problems, issues and disputes, in guiding solutions and in preparing reports and remedial recommendations;
  • Experience in collaborating, influencing, and negotiating with external partners and strategic stakeholders' representatives to achieve mandates while maintaining sound client relationships and gaining trust;
  • Experience in the review and analysis of documentation, submissions, operational, administrative and financial information, and in providing independent and critical advice and recommendations;
  • Indeep knowledge of strategic planning frameworks, risk analysis, and stakeholder management in order to offer advice and guidance;
  • Knowledge of the methods, techniques and approaches related to the review of security policies and procedures to recommend appropriate changes and revisions;
  • Ability to professionally represent the Director with senators, staff, and other stakeholders during meetings, while coordinating activities, and at events;
  • Advanced interpersonal, leadership and oral/written communication skills in both official languages;
  • Experience working with Ministers, Senators, and/or elected officials will be considered an asset.
