Horticultural Watering Attendant

Temporary Full-Time Seasonal Opportunities Available

The City of Delta's Parks Outside Operations services Delta's three communities: Ladner, North Delta, and Tsawwassen. Exciting opportunities and challenges await those with a passion for horticulture and/or arboriculture.
We are seeking reliable, self-motivated, and flexible team players willing to work a variety of shifts to operate the City's watering truck.

In this position, you will be responsible for safely operating the watering truck; watering hanging baskets and city trees. You must have the ability to work independently, effectively, and efficiently without direct supervision.
Your duties will vary and you will be responsible for performing manual and semi-skilled tasks which may include assisting crews in the maintenance of various landscaped and horticultural areas when essential.
Good physical condition with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions is necessary.
Customer service is an important aspect of this work and tactful, diplomatic, and professional communication with the public is essential for success in these positions.

A valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence with a safe driving record is required as well as familiarity with driving pickup trucks or larger vehicles.
Towing experience is an asset.
To be considered for this position, candidates must submit a current Driver's Record showing five years of history along with their application.

Successful candidates will be selected based on their experience and skills related to the job. Preference may be given to those who have completed training or courses in relation to horticulture or arboriculture.

The successful candidate will be available to work a non-standard work week including early mornings (4:00 am) and weekends. The work hours may be adjusted due to seasonal and operational requirements.
