In recent years, several factors have contributed to increase the department's workload, and make the delivery of its operations and the coordination of its projects more complex.

The Project and Planning Specialist will be tasked with reinforcing the department's project management capabilities to allow it to achieve its objectives in the most efficient way.


What will you do
Reporting to the Director, Research and Analytics, you will:

  • Increase departmental efficiency by implementing a streamlined operational planning and project management approach
  • Lead the project management aspects of the department's operations and initiatives
  • Ensure operations' and initiatives alignment with the annual departmental plan
  • Lead the selection and implementation of effective project management and planning tools
  • Improve tracking of the department's work and signal risks and issues to the management team
  • Simplify access to COM services for clients: act as key point of entry/contact to clients for sizeable projects, initiatives requiring the contribution of multiple teams, liaising and negotiating with clients and partners as required.
  • Build strong relationships and work in close collaboration with all teams in the department to plan and sequence work to achieve both the department's and clients' objectives, manage capacity and resolve issues
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to teams on matters relating to project management practices and methodologies. This also includes developing and maintaining project plans, production schedules, etc.

What you need to succeed
A resourceful problem solver with outstanding organizational skills, you have:

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, approaches and methodologies, and familiarity with organizational change management approaches and tools
  • Solid business acumen, including the ability to translate business needs into feasible solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting requirements concurrently
  • Excellent attention to details

Your education and experience

  • University degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., business administration, project management, communications, etc.)
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience with 5 years in or project management or production management, ideally in the communication, PR or marketing fields.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, but preference will be given to experience in fields of communications, public relations or marketing
