- Contribution and authentication of mechanical & facilities deliverables: Design Basis, input to PFD's, P&ID's, and Material Balance, input to Process Control Narratives, Line Lists, Tie-In Lists, Mechanical Equipment Lists, Mechanical and Instrument Datasheets.
- Sizing and selection of mechanical equipment for complex large-scale recreation, processing, and water treatment projects.
- Experience in and contribution to piping design and materials selection.
- Experience in rotating equipment sizing and selection including high volume compression and pumping system.
- Preliminary design, and detailed design of water treatment plants in western Canada and elsewhere.
- Process optimization studies and troubleshooting.
- Interface with other departments as required to develop and implement multi-disciplinary projects.
- Supervise and mentor junior and intermediate engineers.
- Establish cost and schedule for project deliverables.
- Assist with proposal development.
- Project engineering, project management opportunities will be available for the right candidate.
- Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of 6+ years applicable experience in industrial water treatment, mining water treatment and/or oil and gas industry.
- Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and/or Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC); experience and/or registration with U.S bodies including Texas and California is considered and asset.
- Committed team player with experience in working in a leadership role within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Excellent English communication skills, and experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports.
- Proven leadership and communication skills, with strong client communication skills.
- Flexibility to take multiple roles: Mechanical Lead, Technical Reviewer, Project engineering, Project Management.
- Experience in water treatment technology design and specification is a requirement.
- Experience in materials selection for chemical and corrosive service.
- Experience in design and installation of skim tanks, water filtration including membrane and regenerative media filtration and oil/water separation equipment including dissolved air floatation is a requirement.
- Demonstrable experience in chemical injection, slurry handling and sweetening technology is preferred.
- Recent demonstrable experience in hydraulic calculations for both surface and pipeline designs is an asset.
- Experience in design and implementation of industrial scale water treatment is an asset.
- Facility commissioning and start-up experience is an asset.
- Legally able to work in Canada
