Program Profile
The Surgery Program includes two (2) adult inpatient units. Our services include Orthopedics; Vascular; General Surgery, ENT, Gynecology, Oral/Maxillofacial, Urology, Ophthalmology and Plastics. Our program currently runs 10 operating rooms with room to grow.

Inpatient adult surgical services are provided within 36 beds on 7 Centre and 24 combined medical/surgical beds plus 12 surge-beds on 7 South.


This is what you'll be doing:

Reporting to the Program Director of Surgery OTMH, the Patient Care Manager for Inpatient Surgery (7C/7S) is accountable for the quality of patient care, utilization of resources, staff development and for developing/sustaining team centered approaches for the day-to-day management of 7C and 7S.

As an innovative leader you will support the Program Director in planning and advancing inpatient surgical care and processes and your teams to meet corporate and program objectives.

You will work collaboratively with hospital partners to ensure timely and effective care delivery including a strong collaboration and partnership with the Professional Practice Clinician (PPC) to ensure orientation and staff development within the department.

You will have Leader on-call administration duties for the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Halton Healthcare is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession and who exemplify our mission, vision and values of compassion, accountability, and respect.

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BScN required
  • Master's degree in a related health care field preferred
  • Previous leadership/management experience required
  • Has a passion for Surgery and has surgical clinical background. A thorough understanding of the clinical needs of the surgical patient is required
  • Demonstrated focus on the patient experience, patient safety and continuous quality improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain high functioning teams
  • Possesses highly developed analytical, problem solving, critical thinking skills
  • Possess the ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change
  • Excellent human resource management skills including recruitment, retention and staff satisfaction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to support teambuilding, development of staff and coaching
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement (e.g. LEAN/Six Sigma)
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
