Overview

Reporting to the VP of Finance, this dynamic individual will work at the intersection of Finance, Sales, Purchasing, IT and Operations to support business decisionmaking, operational efficiencies, and elements of strategic planning
You will be responsible for measuring business performance, standardizing business processes, and identifying opportunities for business improvement with a focus on cost & inventory investment control
Your work will be instrumental to Venture Steel achieving its goals, be highly visible to Venture's leadership, and will drive key insights for management discussions
The Analyst will work alongside team members on daily tasks and handson projects, combining both business and technical skills to help build solutions that aid in more efficient operations and informed decision making for the respective business functions

What You'll Do

Consolidate business units' in stock and on order data for reporting and analysis
Provide analytical and financial planning support to all Business Partners including variance analysis, reporting, and identification of risks & opportunities
Support Annual Strategic Planning for the company; coordinate Venture Steel's strategic plan and various objectives and initiatives to meet defined targets
Support the creation, monitoring, and governance surrounding strategic objectives and initiatives performance by working with key stakeholders
Leverage your financial background to support and influence key strategic and business decisions
Prepare and analyze reporting for key business metrics including financial summaries, sales performance, days supply of inventory, and inventory aging
Liaise between Finance, Sales, Purchasing, and IT with regards to reports and system enhancements
Work with internal stakeholders to define business needs and find appropriate solutions
Assist with creation or enhancements of reports to improve effectiveness and understanding of company and industry data
Develop documentation of critical business processes for future users and change management
Identify creative and innovative opportunities for enhancing existing solutions and improving current processes
Follow up to ensure acceptance & adoption of new processes such that they are implemented per plan
Support ad hoc/special projects and business opportunities to help grow the different areas of the business
Thinks creatively to assess and address business problems
Enjoys solving problems by diving deep into data to derive insights & solutions
Connects the dots between business needs and technologydriven solutions
Ability to 'get hands dirty' to work with and analyze large datasets
Excellent presentation, communication, analytical and organizational skills
Ability to thrive in a high volume and fastpaced environment
Strong attention to detail with a sense of urgency
Excellent time management, able to multitask and deliver on time
Ability to quickly establish working relationships and effectively transition through assignments
Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Management, Economics, or other related field of study (MBA considered an asset)
25 years of experience in Commercial related field, Finance, Accounting, Strategic Planning
Previous experience working with PowerBI & SQL considered an asset
Experience in the metals, mining, distribution, or manufacturing industry is an asset
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Eager and curious to learn
