- Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting.
- Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Prepare Financial Statements and year-end filings for all companies.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial information, including monthly financial statements, trial balance, and general ledgers.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling processes to ensure accurate financial projections.
- Conduct regular analysis of financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to the Principals to support key business decisions and expansion initiatives.
- Direct the daily review of cash-flow and bank management, updating balances and review of all cheques outstanding.
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual preparation of payments to government entities, compliance with filing requirements, applicable to all corporate entities and all funds managed (EHT, HST, Source Deductions).
- Work with third-party tax consultants to provide required information to ensure filings are completed on a timely basis.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a small accounting team.
- Review and maintain company policies as related to Human Rights & Employee conduct.
- Responsible for FINTRAC compliance, monitoring and staff training as applicable to the real estate sector.
- Support new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.
- Liaise with IT consultant on matters related to IT infrastructure and hardware.
- Advise and assist the Principals with any required reporting and tax filings for personal investments.
- A minimum of 12-15 years of demonstrated technical financial acumen in accounting, reporting, and financial management.
- A minimum of 3-5 years at the Director/VP level having managed a small team.
- Open to most industry backgrounds; experience having worked in real estate, or a related sector would be an asset.
- Strong technical accountant with a preference for someone with ASPE reporting experience.
- Experience with HST and corporate tax would be a plus.
- Proficiency with financial software, ERP systems, and MS Office. Experience with Sage 300 and QuickBooks will be an asset.
- University Degree (Business/Accounting).
- CPA.

This role will be on-site (near Casa Loma) and manage a small team. The preferred candidate will be a CPA, driven, a strong communicator and able to work in an entrepreneurial environment.Although experience in real estate (or a related sector) will be an asset, our client is open to most industry backgrounds.
THE POSITION
Reporting to the Principals of the Company, the VP Finance will oversee the financial operations of the business including financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, cash management, and tax compliance.
