    Description
    Galvion designs, develops, and manufactures ballistic helmets and dynamic energy and data management solutions for the modern battlefield. This position will be part of the Design Engineering team. It will be responsible to support the maintenance and manufacturing engineering team for existing equipment . It will also lead the creation and procurement of new equipment or major update of existing equipment.

    A significant part of this position will be making updates to existing PLC and HMI programs and creating and validating new programs for new products.

    Collaborate with department and corporate leadership to determine existing automation capabilities and future opportunities.
    Collaborate with Design Engineering to establish best way to automate the fabrication of new products.
    Design and implement automated systems for use in diverse manufacturing and production environments.
    Lead collaborative discussions between leadership and key stakeholders to determine automation capabilities and goals.
    Create detailed road maps to guide automation projects from conception to final implementation.
    Analyzing the layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and work force to maximize efficiency .
    Support existing automation technology with component and process upgrades.
    Provide training and guidance to all employee levels in the operation and maintenance of new equipment.


    Performance:
    Deliver complex process automation projects on time and on budget.
    Deliver process automation projects that will significantly improve the profitability of the THS Line of Business.
    Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in automated manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields.
    ~0 to 2 years of automation engineering experience.


    PLC/Robotics:
    Experience using ladder logic programming to accomplish varying tasks within a PLC system.
    Ability to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical, pneumatic systems to find and correct errors and failures.
    Skills using a Digital multimeter to test for voltage/continuity/resistance.
    Ability to use scientific method to find the root cause of complex problems.


    Electrical Experience:
    Experience with 24VDC PLC and IO systems and common practice.
    Ability to accurately follow schematics to wire systems into PLC terminal strips and sensors/other equipment.
    Familiarity with common practices of wiring, cable glands, crimping, soldering, types of cable.
    Knowledge of how Inputs and Outputs are physically connected into a PLC or robot controller.

    Understanding of servo motors/encoders and how they track motor positions, for both new installations and maintenance of current systems.


    CAD/Design:
    Experience with SolidWorks or similar.
    Exposure to a manufacturing environment with knowledge of what common machines are capable of is a plus.
    Experience in the Lean production principles and tools is a plus.
    English mandatory, French is a plus.
    Creative thinking skills.
    Experience with project management is a plus.
    A desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge.
    Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects with different deadlines at the same time.
