Tomlinson is currently seeking a Shop Foreman for our Truck Shop on Power Road.This person would be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of staff, assisting with customer issues, assisting Parts and Administrative Clerks with ordering parts and the completion of work orders, and ensuring a safe and productive workplace at all times.
Our Power Road shop has up to 15 mechanics, and we deal with a variety of heavy truck fleet and equipment repairs.
Our fleet includes our Dump Trucks, Environmental Trucks, Pick Up Trucks, Ready Mix trucks and many other types of construction equipment.
Location: 5597 Power Road, Ottawa, ON
- Monday to Friday, may need to work extra hours when needed
- Hours of work: 7:00am 5:00pm
- Available oncall when needed
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be a safety leader with a solid safety behavior and have a strong background in leadership
- Ensure safety procedures and standards are met at all times
- Maintaining a safe and clean truck shop and yard
- Delegating tasks to technicians
- Ability to train and mentor staff
- Supervising the day to day operations
- Setting up the floor space to maximize productivity
- Ensuring quality repairs are completed
- Liaise with shop supervisor and other operations personnel on the status and scope of repairs needed
- Review work orders before closing off
- Work with night shift lead hand to ensure daily hand over is communicated effectively
- Working with maintenance coordination on preventative maintenance schedules
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of supervisory experience
- 310T Mechanic or multiple years of shop supervisory experience will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of the Health & Safety Act within the Industrial Field
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Strong attendance and punctuality
- Mechanically inclined
- Ability to operate equipment considered an asset
- Strong customer service experience
- Planning and organizational skills
- Having acted as a Health and Safety representative considered an asset
