    Description
    Our client, s looking for a Database Analyst for an initial 1 year TERM assignment.

    This position reports to the Associate Director of Operations in their Corporate Services department


    The incumbent designs, develops and administers databases for the College including -maintaining data storage, assessing database design, organizing and reporting statistical information.

    Responsibilities

    • Support all phases of the database processes including planning, building and running the databases.
    • Plan
    o Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement database structures.

    o Conduct research and provide advice regarding the collection, availability, and suitability of data.


    • Build
    o Construct, modify, implement, and test data models and database management systems.

    o Create data dictionaries and user manuals for reference.

    o Develop and implement data administration policy, standards, and models, including backup and recovery of data.

    o Implement and maintain database security to safeguard sensitive data.


    • Run
    o Perform database maintenance include data backup, restoration, and data integrity checks.

    o Create queries and datasets for stakeholder reporting needs.

    o Write scripts related to stored procedures and triggers.

    o Monitor database performance and identify areas for optimization.

    o Resolve database issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions.

    o Stay up to date on database technology, trends, and best practices.

    • Acquire and maintain knowledge of the College's policies, regulations, and strategies, and keep up to date with relevant developments, applicable legislation, trends and best
    practices.


    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the College meets and delivers on its legislative compliance requirements without delay.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    -
    • University Degree (Bachelor) in a related field.
    -
    • 3 to 5 years of experience in data processing, with at least 2 years of experience with database management systems, including database design, implementation and maintenance.
    • - Proficiency in SQL for querying and programming languages such as Python, Java, or others for scripting.
    • - Knowledge of processes and practices in working with information in databases (e.g., data architecture, data structures and data modeling, troubleshooting and problem solving).
    -
    • Knowledge of database security.
    -
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize queries, troubleshoot data problems and create database solutions.
    -
    • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of work (e.
    g.,database management, troubleshooting and completing projects).

    -
    • Organization skills and attention to detail to maintain datasets and accuracy when handling data.
    -
    • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced changing environment as a collaborative team player who demonstrates initiative.
    -
    • Written and verbal communication skills to communicate technical information and finding and collaborate with stakeholders.
    -
    • Project management skills to manage projects and ensure timely completion of all deliverables.
    -
    • Knowledge of office/administrative software.
    Summary

    • 3 to 5 years of experience in data processing, with at least 2 years of experience with database management systems, including database design, implementation and maintenance.
    • - Proficiency in SQL for querying and programming languages such as Python, Java, or others for scripting.
