    Highbury Canco is currently seeking a Product Developer to join our facility in Leamington, Ontario.

    Reporting to the Technical R&D Manager, the Product Developer will be responsible for:

  • Executing New Product Development (NPD) projects, including innovation in new and existing product categories, matching existing products, process improvements and reproducing formulas.
  • Conducting pilot kitchen tests that represent manufacturing processes and conditions.
  • Preparing, executing, and supporting factory trials for new product and process launches.
  • Assessing how new ingredients and process technologies affect new product innovations or existing products (such as quality improvements, nutritional enhancements, and cost reductions).
  • Staying current with relevant scientific and technical developments in food science.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities at the factory and laboratory levels.
  • Creating, evaluating and maintaining project documentation, data and technical reports.
  • Preparation and maintenance of recipes and processing instructions.
  • Working directly with customer innovation teams as well as internal partners on projects.
  • Procuring information & samples for new raw materials by working directly with vendors.
  • Conducting sensory evaluations
  • Reviewing labels against food regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Arranging, shipping and tracking customer samples as necessary.
  • Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Food Science and/or culinary degree and/or background experience in food manufacturing or similar industry. Consideration will be given to candidates with other relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in food product development will be an asset.
  • Excellent communication, time management, & problem-solving skills with particular attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive computer skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), SAP, SharePoint.
  • Understanding of food regulations and food safety schemes (HACCP, Safe Foods for Canadians, FSMA, Organic and Kosher)
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
