Position Description


The Director, Lands & Culture is responsible for collaborating with our other business lines to bring services directly to Indigenous communities and organizations.

Key functions of the role include establishing and growing the Lands & Culture team, business development, establishing TWC methodology, and the delivery and execution of services to Indigenous Nations.

The Lands & Culture disciplines at TWC include the following services tailored specifically for Indigenous clients:
ecology, human environment, impact assessment, and digital services. Due to the holistic nature of this role, you will be working collaboratively with other directors and team members.


Duties and Responsibilities

Business Line Management

  • Drive growth in Lands & Culture area and continue to support development of the team to execute the work.
  • Develop guidance and training in Lands & Culture related services.
  • Establish, lead, and manage the Lands & Culture team.
  • Manage resourcing and project allocations within the Lands & Culture team in collaboration with others on the TWC team.
  • Lead by example to promote a positive and progressive team Health & Safety culture.

Business Development

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Indigenous Nations to generate repeat business.
  • Work with the team to create a strategy to develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous clients.
  • Help position TWC to work on Indigenousled initiatives across Canada.
  • Recognize emerging opportunities in the industry, pursue and obtain new business and take an active leadership role in the development of new business with new and existing clients.
  • Establish TWC's technical reputation and brand by contributing to events and conferences.
  • Lead proposal development for Lands & Culture related work.

Technical Work

  • Establish TWC methods in the Lands & Culture service area in collaboration with team members.
  • Provide guidance, technical support, and oversight to TWC project teams on Indigenousled projects.
  • Work with project managers, technical leads, and others to ensure culturally appropriate project delivery.
  • Work with TWC teams to bring Indigenous Knowledge into deliverables.
Other related duties as may be required.


Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio or equivalent).
  • A bachelor or graduate degree in biology, natural resource management or a related field with 10+ years of relevant and progressive experience, including professional environmental consulting experience, and managing teams of diverse professionals.
  • Experience with the provision of Land & Culture services in Indigenous communities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate individuals with a variety of communication and personality traits.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality customer service while balancing competing interests.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring technical reports and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated, positive team player, who collaborates effectively and respectfully with others.
  • You selfidentify as Indigenous, including First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.

Working Location
Work will be typically performed in one of TWC's offices or your remote home office. Some project assignments may require a presence at client sites, including offices, project operations, communities, and other premises.


Travel
Occasional travel will be required to achieve the duties and responsibilities above to serve clients' and TWC's needs.

How to Apply

Salary:
$150,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
