    Description

    Our client is a global mining company headquartered in downtown Toronto. This position provides an opportunity to be an integral part in the company's accounting function and support global teams. This role requires hands-on experience with technical accounting, financial reporting under IFRS, and writing memos.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support the monthly closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and analyzing variances to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
    • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with IFRS standards.
    • Draft comprehensive accounting memos to document and explain complex transactions, ensuring transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
    • Conduct thorough research and analysis of accounting issues, business transactions, and regulatory changes, providing insightful recommendations to management.
    • Collaborate with local finance teams to facilitate the transfer of financial data between systems, ensuring seamless integration and accuracy of information.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance internal controls, and improve efficiency within the finance department.
    • Partner with stakeholders across various departments to gather financial information, resolve accounting issues, and support business initiatives.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA designation (or similar or at least passed CFE).
    • Previous experience working in the firm environment, mining industry or related field.
    • Strong technical accounting skills with a thorough understanding of IFRS principles and regulations.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work with complex financial data.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Spanish language is an asset.
