- see below for more details about this work mode_**Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives in the Strategic Policy and Performance Division; the Analysts Research and Policy will provide research and analysis, project leadership and recommendations on the implementation, community engagement and evaluation of Peel's Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan. You will build collaborative relationships with key partners and facilitate planning and action with CSWB tables


Who we are:

The new Analysts will join a multi-disciplinary team of professionals supporting the CSWB Plan implementation and renewal. The Police Services Act requires all municipalities to have a CSWB Plan.

Over 25 organizations, representing emergency services, school boards, health and social service providers and governments, came together over 2 years to develop Peel's CSWB Plan, which was approved by Regional Council in 2020 and sets out how partners can work together to make Peel a safer, more inclusive and connected community where all residents thrive.

While the plan recognizes there are many topics that impact community safety and well-being, 3 areas of focus have been identified: family violence, mental health and addictions and systemic discrimination.


What you will do in this role:

  • Monitor, identify, analyze and provide recommendations on trends, risks and opportunities
  • Develop and maintain cooperative, collaborative and strategic relationships with internal and external partners
  • Collaborate with internal staff, external agencies and federal, provincial and regional colleagues
  • Design, monitor, and evaluate performance indicators for the purpose of quality assurance
  • Analyze and interprets complex information to provide strategic recommendations that will guide policy and programming decisions
  • Plan, measure and evaluate activities as they relate to CSWB
  • Manage strategic projects and initiatives including planning and evaluation support
  • Synthesize complex information into a wide range of written and visual communication products such as reviews of research evidence, briefing documents, policy positions and presentations
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and represents the Division at local, provincial, federal and international meetings and conferences
  • Ensure that issues of diversity, ethnicity, language and culture are reflected in research and policy analyses
  • May assist management by providing work direction, advice, training and/or guidance to staff and students

What the role requires:


  • A University Degree in Health Sciences, Health Promotion, Policy, Planning, Health Administration or related degree related field, combined with at least three (3) years of relevant work experience (Masters level education preferred)
  • Experience in community development is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with a strong emphasis on program evaluation and measurement is considered an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of community health and Community Safety and Well-Being

Skills/Abilities:


  • Strong facilitation, project management, partnership/collaboration, planning, problemsolving and organizational skills
  • Polished facilitation, presentation, and report writing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information for a variety of audiences
  • Strong research (qualitative and quantitative research methods) and analytical skills
  • Ability to synthesize, evaluate and integrate information from multiple sources, and to provide recommendations for policy formulation/dissemination
  • Excellent problem solver with the ability to formulate effective approaches to program and policy development
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdepartmental teams and across organizational boundaries
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a high degree of discretion and diplomacy
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
  • Excellent computer skills utilizing MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Work Mode & Job Location:

In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 7120 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON worksite.
